About Our Escape Rooms:
Questions about The Vanishing Act and The Storykeeper
The Experience
Where do we go when we arrive?
All players should go to the alley behind the PCC, accessible on foot from Evanston Ave on the west (between Destee-Nation Shirt Company and PCC) or Fremont Ave N on the east (via the stairs near Aesop). We’re located to the left of the entrance to the Fremont Vintage Mall, in Suite 102 of the Fremont Annex. When you arrive, please enter Suite 102 via the alley. If locked, please call (206) 371-2835 and a Locurio staff member will escort your team inside.
Will we be locked inside the room?
No. In our escape rooms, your goal is to solve the mystery and successfully reach the conclusion of the story. The door remains unlocked for the entire game, and players are welcome to step outside or visit the restroom at any time.
Do I have to be good at puzzles to play?
No. The puzzles in the room have been designed so that anyone can solve them, not just puzzle enthusiasts. The puzzles may deal with words, numbers, images, or the manipulation of physical objects. The game also tests your skills of observation, communication, organization, and teamwork. There are lots of ways for everyone to contribute to the game and enjoy the experience.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
No. Everything you will need to play the game will be provided for you inside the room. We do recommend comfortable shoes, since you will be on your feet exploring the space for the duration of the game.
Is the experience scary?
Our escape rooms include areas decorated with a dark and spooky theme, and some prop and character interactions that are intended to surprise or spook players. Our games are not horror or haunt-style experiences, however, and these elements are not the main focus of our games. Our intention is not to harrass players or test their limits, but to entertain and delight players with spooky surprises as they fit within the narrative of the game.
The Vanishing Act in particular deals with mature or dark concepts which may not be appropriate for children.
How long is the game?
From start to finish, the entire experience is about 1 hour and 45 minutes long. Players will have 75 minutes to complete the escape room, with around 15 minutes of rules and information before the game, and 15 minutes after the game for debriefing and photos. Some teams may complete the game in under 75 minutes.
What happens if you don’t "escape?"
In our escape rooms, you are never locked in, therefore your goal is to solve a mystery or reach the conclusion of a story, not to find the final key or code to unlock the door to the room. If you don’t successfully complete the game, you will receive a different narrative ending to your experience, but our staff will be happy to explain any puzzles that weren’t solved or moments you may have missed.
Accessibility
Is the game handicap accessible?
Unfortunately, our building and offices are only accessible by stairs. Once inside the game rooms, some but not all portions of our escape rooms are wheelchair accessible.
Does the game require physical activity?
Both of our games require standing, walking, and searching for clues for over an hour. The Storykeeper requires some squatting or kneeling by at least one team member, and an optional crawling element. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended.
Is the game appropriate for children?
No. Locurio Escape Rooms are for participants aged 18 and older. Absolutely no one under the age of 12 will be admitted. No toddlers or infants will be admitted. Players ages 12-17 may attend ONLY if accompanied by a parent or guardian ON SITE AND INSIDE THE GAME ROOM for the duration of the game.
Please note that our games contain some spooky elements that may not be suitable for younger audiences.
Participants under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian ON SITE for the duration of the game, and must have a parent or guardian sign our liability waiver before participating.
For family-friendly puzzling, please check out our outdoor puzzle hunt, The Mysteries of Noximillian!
Are there any special effects, like lights, sounds or fog machines?
Our games features flashing colored lights, temporary darkness or dim lighting, and some loud sound effects. All flashing lights produce less than 5 flashes per second and do not create a strobe effect. There are no fog or smoke effects in the room.
Is the game suitable for non-English speakers?
While our games do include some language-independent activities, many of our puzzles do rely on some knowledge of English.
Booking
What is your cancellation policy?
All sales are final, and no refunds will be given in cases of booking cancellation or no-shows.
Will I be paired up with strangers?
No. All of Locurio’s games use a private booking model. No matter how many tickets you purchase, once you reserve a game, that game is blocked on our booking system and no other guests can purchase the remaining tickets.
Can we enjoy the game with just 2-3 players?
The Vanishing Act is designed for teams of up to 8 players, and we strongly recommend groups of at least 4-6 players due to the difficulty of the game and the quantity of puzzles. If you do book with 2 or 3 players, we can provide additional hints to help your team progress through the game.
The Storykeeper is designed for teams of up to 6 players, so groups of 2-3 players are still likely to have a great time.
Generally speaking, the more players you have in your group, the more likely your team will be to successfully complete the game.
Can I book a game for a time that isn’t available on your booking page?
If you’d like to book a game for your group at a day or time that isn’t listed on our booking calendar, please e-mail us at booking@locurio.com and we may be able to accommodate your request.
Can I bring more than the maximum number of players?
While our escape rooms are designed with a specific number of players in mind, we understand that some parties may prefer to bring more players to their game. On request, we can accept up to two additional players for both of our escape rooms. Players should keep in mind that the room may be more crowded, and the puzzles may be over-saturated with additional players. Additional players will need to pay admission either through an invoice in advance, or a credit card or cash payment on site. If you would like to bring more than the maximum number of players, please inform us at booking@locurio.com.
I originally booked my game for a smaller group, but now more people are able to join. Can I add more players onto my booking?
Absolutely! As long as your party doesn’t exceed the maximum number of players for the room, you’re welcome to add more people after you book. Feel free to contact booking@locurio.com to update your reservation, or just bring your extra players along. We will take payment on-site for the additional players.
Do you sell gift certificates to your escape rooms?
Yes! We sell digital gift codes which the recipient can apply toward any Locurio experience. Please visit our Gift Codes page for more information.
I have a gift code for Locurio, how do I use it?
To redeem a gift code, go to our booking page and begin the booking process for the game you would like to play. On the checkout page, there will be a field where you can enter your gift code.
COVID-19
Will I have to provide proof of vaccination?
No. Locurio is no longer requiring proof of vaccination for our guests.
Will I have to wear a mask while on site?
No. We are no longer requiring masks on site, but they continue to be strongly recommended & appreciated.
Will my group have a private experience?
Yes. All of our games utilize a private booking model, therefore you and your guests will never be joined by strangers.
What about air quality?
We have portable HEPA air filter units in all of our game spaces and lobby, to keep the air quality as clean and safe as possible for our guests and staff. We use the Coway Airmega 200M model – find reviews here.
Will I have to sign a waiver?
Yes. All adult players are required to sign a waiver on site, and a supervising adult is required to sign on behalf of any player under the age of 18. We have utilized a contactless check-in system for your safety – upon arrival, you will scan a QR code in order to access your waiver via your own device, online.
A member of my party isn’t feeling well; what should I do?
If you or any member of your party is experiencing signs of illness, please contact us via email (info@locurio.com) or phone (206-371-2835) and we will happily reschedule you, free of charge. If you are unable to reschedule your visit, we will offer you a full refund, minus a small processing fee. Please do NOT attend your event if you aren’t feeling well – if any member of your party arrives displaying obvious signs of illness, you will be asked to reschedule for a later date.
Will I have to interact with staff members?
Yes, though they will do their best to practice social distancing, and all of our staff members are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
I’m still nervous about indoor entertainment. Do you have alternate options?
Yes! Our puzzle hunt The Mysteries of Noximillian takes place entirely outdoors, excluding a short interaction with our staff to receive a packet of puzzle information at your scheduled start time (packet will be sanitized). This hunt typically concludes at a local pub/restaurant, however we have disabled this feature until further notice.
